Bruichladdich

Pronounced "brook-laddie," Bruichladdich sits close to Port Charlotte on Islay.

A relativley new distillery on Islay, built in 1881 using concrete! It was extended in 1975 but has had many silent periods throughout its life, and was closed as recently as 1995.

In 2000 it was bought by a consortium of private investors and is again producing a fantastic range of well marketed products. It is even possible to buy and reserve your own cask for maturation. A new malt is set to appear in ten years or so, called Port Charlotte. This will be in-effect a peatier/smokier version of Bruichladdich, we will just have to wait.
