The Partagas 898 Varnished is our favourite lonsdale in James Fox. This cigar has a great construction, with coffee-brown and oily wrappers, presented in a varnished cabinet of 25 in an 8-9-8 format. It is rich and refined, with flavours of oriental spices, earth, wood and leather, with good balance and depth. The 898 is the perfect cigar to follow a heavy meal. The 898 is not for the beginner smoker; even the seasoned afficionado can find it hard to keep up with the explosion of flavours. Our stock is from 1999, and with 11 years of age, the 898 smoke remarkably well, having grown out of the harshness often seen when fresh.
