Licensed to James Allardes in 1826 the distillery has changes hands several times in its life and now belongs to Allied Domecq. It is a very traditional disitillery with malting floors, wooden washbacks and coal fired stills. The maltings are still used and provide around 15% of the distillery's requirements.
Sweet and concentrated aromas of sherry and toffee with a whiff of smoke. Dryer on the palate with some nice, malty, cereal notes, and buttery toffee. The sherry dominates on the finish.
