It was not an easy decision; the sealed cabinet of La Corona Policromia Red was tucked away safely in our keep, still sealed in its wax paper, with the cigars not seen by anyone since they were packed, sometime in 1949 in Havana. That’s a long time ago, I wasn’t even born then!
The cabinet of 50 Policromia Red now had a new home; but before we said our goodbyes, I had to have a look, I had to break the seal, open the cabinet and take my first and last glance at the cigars and breath in the scent of the years gone by.
I carefully tore the stamps, unfolded the wax paper, broke the seal and the box was opened for the first time in 65 years. What I saw is hard to describe with words; cigars full of youth and promise with wrappers still smooth and velvety, with a sheen offering great expectation of enjoyment. The strong earthy and floral scent was heavenly , reminiscent of that era.
Dear old friend, we have had our moment but I am afraid it’s time to say “Farewell”. Now that you are gone, maybe I should take up a position in the keep, so that when my time comes to part, I will too have a sheen of youthfulness and the expectation of enjoyment.
